Artemis II Crew Captures Stunning Images of Earth from Space

As the Artemis II mission reaches its midpoint between Earth and the Moon, NASA has unveiled breathtaking high-resolution images of our planet, taken by the mission's commander, Reid Wiseman. These images, including the captivating 'Hello, World,' showcase the Earth with its vibrant blue oceans and atmospheric glow, as seen from the Orion spacecraft. The crew, filled with joy, captured these visuals after completing a crucial engine burn that set them on a trajectory towards the Moon, marking the first human journey beyond Earth's orbit since 1972.

The spacecraft, having launched from Kennedy Space Center, is on a looping path around the Moon, with plans to return to Earth by April 10. The images reveal the Earth in various lights, from the terminator line dividing night and day to the twinkling lights of cities in the darkness. Wiseman faced challenges in capturing these distant images but overcame them to provide a stunning view of our home planet.

NASA also shared a side-by-side comparison of Earth's view from 2026 with a similar image from the Apollo 17 mission in 1972, highlighting the advancements in space exploration over the past 54 years. Despite the technological leaps, the beauty of Earth from space remains unchanged, a testament to our planet's enduring allure.
