Exploring the Universe in a Nutshell: A Journey with Kurzgesagt

In 2013, I received an intriguing email from Philipp Dettmer, a creator of animated educational videos in Germany. Despite initial skepticism, I was captivated by his YouTube channel, Kurzgesagt, which translates to 'In a Nutshell.' Our shared passion for exploring the universe led to a collaboration, adapting one of my early posts into a Kurzgesagt video. Over the years, Philipp and I have become great friends, often diving into discussions about the cosmos.

Inspired by the Huang Twins' Scale of the Universe, we embarked on creating an app called Universe in a Nutshell. This app is a vast, high-resolution wall that allows users to explore the size of 250 objects, from galaxies to subatomic particles, accompanied by 30,000+ words of explanations and fun facts. The app offers a unique experience, challenging users to comprehend the sheer scale of the universe.

Priced at $3, the app is a steal, considering its potential to be a 'brain playground' that evolves with user feedback. We encourage users to share their thoughts and suggestions for future versions, aiming to enhance the app continually. Kurzgesagt also released a video about star sizes to celebrate the app's launch.
